We had a new visitor at the feeder yesterday: a blue jay. I managed to get one bad, obscured shot of him before he took off. But I'll be watching for him for a better one...
Well, if you decide to upgrade the bird diner, and put in a spa (bird bath) you will be able to get all the action pics of jays you could ever want! They love bird baths... the only issue is when they're done, you will need to refill the bath... They're 'enthusiastic' in the bath!
We haven't seen Jays here in the Chicagoland area for a number of years, Jay's, like Flickers, and Grackles are affected by the West Nile Virus. One good thing, thoiugh. A block here in Oak Park had a large murder of Crows living on it. Nothing would move them off the block, the residents tried all the supposed solutions, but nothing worked. West Nile hit Chicagoland, and unfortunately, the murder was decimated. I think after a few years, it's gone completely. The residents are mostly happy about it.
