Bush's "State of the Union" address was about as bland a speech as I've ever heard, full of generalized platitudes that only disturbed individuals could fail to agree with, and short of many actual details of how such things might be accomplished. When he did offer actual strategies, it was obvious that only Republicans had any interest in following them, and even their agreement was tepid.

I suspect that not much is going to happen on his legislative agenda in the next year and a half...

What do you think?

I was born in 1968, and thankfully cannot remember Nixon, so I get to say he is simply the worst president I could possibly have imagined for this country, ever.

His speech, included veiled cracks at the 'Democrat' majority, was hopeless. He fails to admit the truth about Iraq, he fails to admit that his administration has endlessly stalled energy policy reform, he fails to admit that his environmental policies are geared toward short term profits and not long term sustainability; he fails to admit, in short, that he has failed.

That's what I think.

I think that he's boring us to death so we won't notice the next big chunk of asshattery.

I remember Nixon.

Bush is worse.

I think there's a bumper sticker in that!

Anyway, the agenda is still Bush's - the Senate killed the minimum wage hike today. *sigh*

It's not dead, but it's being beat up.

SOTU

Did you read Webb's rebuttal (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6970741)?

Re: SOTU

Read it and saw it as well. I thought his two points on the state of the economy and on the "war on terror" were well-constructed.

And I loved the tag: "And if not, we will be showing him the way..."

Re: SOTU

Oh, and did you catch the little mention in the midst of the SOTU speech about "Civilian Reserve Corps" -- a private army, in essence. Now there's a scary thought, though I don't think he has a chance in hell of ramming that through.

Re: SOTU

No more scary than everything else that has happened in these five years.
