Not in any particular order:

...Because I believe that religion should be kept firmly and completely separate from government and all governmental decisions.
...Because I believe that Science, not Mythology, should be taught in Science classes.
...Because I believe that Sex Ed means educating children about all aspects of sexual behavior, how to behave responsibly in that arena, and how avoid consequences for such.
...Because I believe that if two adults love each other and wish to marry, they should be able to do so, regardless of their genders
...Because I believe that a woman should have the right to choose.
...Because I believe that the Federal Budget should be balanced, and, hey, while the Republicans talk about that all the time, the only time it's actually happened in my lifetime has been under a Democratic president.
...Because I believe that our tax structure should be more fairly balanced (frankly, I [EDITED VERSION] once found the idea of a flat tax regardless of income level to be very interesting, but now I'm not so certain...).
...Because I believe that it's best to be talking to your enemies, not simply threatening them.
...Because I believe that it's better to have a Supreme Court who will err on the side of granting too many freedoms to citizens rather than curtailing those we have.
...Because I believe that oil is finite while wind and sun are not, and that drilling for more oil (and thus handing more profits to the already obscene profits of the oil companies) isn't the answer.
...Because I believe that the science (oops, there's that word again) on Global Climate Change is rather compelling, and that we need to act quickly to offset its effects.

I'm sure I'll think of other reasons, but those will do for the moment. With a Republican administration, exactly none of the above will likely be true.

What are your reasons for voting the way you'll vote?

hi prof leigh. it's cate from your novel class. i wanted to put my 2 cents in, too.

i'm voting for obama for a lot of reasons, most of which you covered. my other reasons are because mccain is likely going to die within the first term, leaving us sarah palin as president. she has a pretty limited political background, and considering she governs ALASKA, i don't have much faith in her abilities to lead the lower 48 states, an island state, and other territories. after all, alaskans are paid to live there.

i'm voting for obama because he has made it more than obvious that he has actually THOUGHT about our current struggles and because he has made a PLAN to actually address and potentially overcome those struggles.

he also has joe biden, who has a distinguished political career and has contrbuted more to helping america than mccain and palin combined.

and to be honest, sarah palin has been on my bad side for months because of what she's doing to the environment in alaska. i've looked into alaska's laws concerning hunting and i don't like what i've found. she's literally allowing hunters to massacre wolves, bears, wolverines, and other perdators that are trying to survive and live their lives on the animals that these hunters only shoot for sport. the liscence fees are disgusting. wolves are $50 a head while sport animals like rams can cost up to $450 a head. it's disgusting. if she gets her manicured pit bull claws into the white house, it's only going to be more of the same for endangered gray wolves in idaho, wyoming, and montana, as well as dolphins and the wildlife refuge in alaska because she'll promote drilling off-shore and in the refuge. that is wrong because it'll result in destroying delicate ecosystems that we need and it will only prolong the inevitable. destroying ecosystems won't reverse any sort of climate change; it'll only make it worse. biden, though, has plans for conservation. he's already done a lot of conservation work in delaware, and i feel that with him in the white house, that work will spread out across the nation.

obama-biden isn't going to be bush-cheney III. mcclain-palin will be.

Hey, Cate! Thanks for the two cents. You're right; Palin's environmental record isn't pretty...
