Department 'retreat' today (and no, we did not discuss semicolons...). Tomorrow, convocation on campus. Syllabi due to be uploaded online by Monday.

Yep. Back to school.

I still had to go in, but you know...I felt better about the whole thing.

I concur. I love teaching. I hate the politics involved in academia, which are easily as nasty as the politics of corporate culture...

Our convocation was today. Yesterday was an all-campus faculty meeting. Let's quote Kurtz here: The Horror! The Horror!

If there is any punctuation as reviled as the semicolon, it has to be the ellipse. It is equally abused and misused! I nominate it for the next punctuation post.
