If anyone needed more of an indication that King George operates not by reality but through an unchanging inner vision of the world woven from the strands of his religious and neo-con political mindset, the latest report from the NIE and reports that he evidently has known about this report for months despite his war-drums rhetoric should be evidence enough.

Even now that the conclusions of the report have been made public, the White House 'spin' is that in their reality, this confirms that Iran is a threat because they could have chosen the path of nuclear weapon development. Stephen Hadley, national security advisor, said: "...it confirms that we were right to be worried about Iran seeking to develop nuclear weapons." President Bush said: "What's to say they couldn't start another covert nuclear weapons program?... Iran was dangerous, Iran is dangerous and Iran will be dangerous if they have the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon."

You're an enemy of this administration if it's possible for you to have even thought of being a threat to it. My, how Orwellian...

I find it interesting that someone high up decided that the conclusions of the report needed to be made public when it seems the White House wasn't going to say a word about the report or change its rhetoric in the face of it. I also find it interesting that the White House no longer has the clout to keep this secret -- that's encouraging. Makes one wonder what else the White House knows that's at odds with their policies...

A friend once said of George W. Bush, "'Truth' is whatever gets him what he wants." He's the poster boy for Narcissistic Personality Disorder (http://www.halcyon.com/jmashmun/npd/dsm-iv.html).

"A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy."

Yep, that pretty much describes the man, doesn't it? Though, in fairness, it probably describes the majority of politicians.

the 'knowlege' is dangerous...

Well, lock me up then. Good heavens, I know how to make an A-bomb. Both types: (gun and implosion). It's the underlying tech that's a leetle bit difficult. The Gun type is the 'easiest' The difficult part is getting the U-235. Implosion.... might be hard to pull off without attracting a lot of attention. Some of the stuff that you need for an implosion weapon is very very specialized... but I know what it is, and what it does!
Does that mean it's time to attack Oak Park?
I will be overjoyed when this administration is gone.. (Jim and I have a bet on this, too.. I'm saying that the Bushies will 'find a way' to stay in power past 1/20/09. He disagrees.)

Re: the 'knowlege' is dangerous...

I have to think that with his approval rating in the toilet and without the 'public mandate' that King George enjoyed immediately following 9/11, a declaration of martial law from him would cause an enormous uprorar from every direction, an immediate impeachment, and a refusal by the military commanders to follow (remember, their oath is not to obey the president, but to uphold the constitution).

I hope I'm right...

Re: the 'knowlege' is dangerous...

Yeah. That's my hope too... that I'll lose the bet. I'm just worried that 'something' will happen just before the elections, and George II will decide to 'postpone' the elections for our safety. As far as the military... I'd bet that some of the 'stars' will go along -their job postings are as much political as performance.. It's the field and company grade officers and the senior NCO's that are going to say... NFW!!!!! They are pathologically allergic to the military getting involved in civilian affairs. I am worried, though about the private armies that George II has been using in Iraq, etc. There are more mercs in Iraq than US military...It feels like a Praetortarian Guard for George II.

If something like what I've described above happens, expect to see me at the front of the barricades.

*sigh*

We joked about it at our house last night and got nostalgic for Stephen Colbert's ripping of the president. http://youtube.com/watch?v=qa-4E8ZDj9s

I, also, believe we will see martial law imposed before the next election, and I'm not happy thinking that way.

As I said in my reply to John above, I don't think that Bush can impose martial law at this point -- not without something unforeseen happening in concert.

And I really, really hope I'm right...
