What the heck does "Mush-a-ring dum a do dum a dah" mean?

 A traditional Irish tune today (even though it's been done by Metallica as well as Thin Lizzy): "Whiskey In The Jar". I like this one as it references a "Captain Farrell", and Farrell is an old Irish family name of ours (and why my first few fantasy novels were written under the pseudonym "S.L. Farrell.") Anyway, it's a fun Irish tune with nonsense words in the chorus, so enjoy.
