This one was one that Denise asked me to do -- and what Denise asks me to do, well… ☺

This entry in the Pandemic World Basement Tape series is written by Richard Manuel of The Band and appeared on their debut album Music From Big Pink. "Lonesome Suzi" is a poignant ballad that I’ve always loved, and one of the few songs, back when I was playing full time, I used to hand off my bass to our guitar player, take my mic, and stand out front — though we didn’t do The Band’s version of the tune, but Blood, Sweat, and Tears’ interpretation of it (we had a horn band, after all.

Again, it’s a one-time-through recording, and it’s one of those where I wish I could play keyboards halfway competently, since for my voice it’d be better played down in the key of F rather than the key of G. Too bad they don’t make ‘reverse capos’ for guitars.

If you liked it, I’d be love it you’d subscribe to my YouTube channel (sleighwriter), and if you’re tempted, leave a comment!
