An Irish tune by Sean McCarthy in the 1960s, which has been covered by many and sundry with many and sundry alternate lyrics as well, known either as "Mountain Tae (tea)" or "The Hills of Connemara." Now, Connemara is rather reminiscent of the Appalachian region of the States, and like the Appalachians, provides lots of places where illegal still can be set up and escape casual interest (from the "revenoors" in the State or the "excise men" in Ireland).
I like this tune because during Prohibition my grandfather Dewey Leigh ran liquor from Kentucky across the Ohio into Cincinnati, and sold it from his house. As I say in the intro, there's a nice story in our family about the time on an Easter morning when the revenoors 'visited' the family house in Cincinnati... but that's for another time.
Like many Irish tunes, this follows a Verse/Chorus/Verse/Chorus... structure, and the audience is expected to sing along on the chorus. So learn it and sing along! It'll be a lot more fun, I promise, even if I won't be able to hear you!
