One of my 'projects' is to put together some of my original songs (as well as some of cover tunes I do) in a decent enough format that I could cobble together a CD to give to coffee house/bar owners where I'd like to play. To that end, I picked up Logic Pro X for Macintosh, and a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface to connect to my laptop.

Here's my first effort, a song of mine called "Slip Away" -- this is an approximation of what I do with it on solo gigs: I have the song on aloop, so I can solo over the chords and add a 'second' guitar. The guitar is my Seagull Artist Studio, without effects for the chords (though I did the 'John Lennon' trick and played the chords twice to 'fatten' the sound), then through an overdrive filter for the solos. EDITED TO ADD: I switched the file to mp3 format, as I know some people can't play m4a files...

In my defense, incidentally, you all know I'm a writer of fiction -- a professional liar. I want to emphasize that nothing in the following attached song actually happened...

Anyway, here's another original tune, "Quid Pro Quo" done in Logic Pro X. Just me and a couple tracks with my Seagull (the guitar, not the bird). There are a few glitches in the playing and singing that I might go back and fix at some point, but this gets the gist of the song down with decent fidelity.

Hope you enjoy!  http://www.stephenleigh.com/QuidProQuo.mp3
