Aargh! It happened again last night... A student, after having work critiqued by the class, said defensively "Well, I wrote all that just an hour before class." NOT a good defense, because the subtext of that statement is "I think this class is so unimportant that I'm going to give it the least possible effort that I can, and I don't give a damn that I've wasted everyone's time who closely read my work and spent an hour or so writing up a serious critique of it."

Not to mention that the person giving out the grades is sitting RIGHT THERE...

Aargh!

sounds like the student wasnt thrilled that everyone didnt appreciate their efforts and brilliance, and JUST THINK how much glorious it would have been if they put some time and effort into their golden words.
