MBP: I love this chickadee's pose: large head, small body. The chickadees have been prominent around the feeder in the last few weeks; there seems to always be one zooming in, grabbing a seed, then taking off again.
It's interesting watching that decision, too. Most of the time, it's zoom in, grab seed, fly away. But occasionally one of them (or maybe it's the same one every time -- they're too much alike to tell apart) will stay on the perch and hammer at the seed there, making a bit of a racket.
I never get that close to my birdies, so your pics are illuminating. (they are wild creatures, I just put out seed for them, and do not expect them to be used to my presence)

Alert chickadee is alert.
Or maybe thinking, "When I grab the seed, should it crack it right here or fly off with it? Decisions, decisions."
