Mourning Bird Pic

We have lots of Mourning Doves around -- at least eight pairs. It rather unusual to see just one dove; they always seem to be paired up. I guess I'm a mourning dove of a person; it's good to have someone you love with whom you can share your life.

Impressive. I've rarely seen a Mourning Dove in a tree. They're usually on the ground, scouting for food.

I confess that the first few times I heard a Mourning Dove, I thought it was an owl's hooting. It took me a while to associate the haunting "hooo, hooo" with the doves.
