Two more pics from the bird feeder... the bottom of it, where the wingless prowl the leavings: chipmunk and squirrel (as opposed to moose and squirrel -- now that would be interesting...). I had to move the feeder awhile back, as it was about four or five feet from the deck, and the squirrels could leap from the railing of the deck stairs across the gap to the top of the squirrel baffle, and get to the feeders. I've moved it back another three or four feet; now the gap's too wide for the squirrels and they haven't yet figured out how to defeat the baffle.
But I'm fairly sure they will. Those little tree rats are clever and athletic...

I have to get myself outside to clear out the ice and sunflower shells from under the bird feeder (the shells covering the ice insulate it remarkably well). The detritus has piled up so much the squirrels can jump up past the baffle and raid the feeder.
