AARGH! I HATE THIS!

A month or so ago, I got a fantastic and insightful critique from David Perry on the draft of CROW OF CONNEMARA which made me itch to get back to that novel. But I waited, since I hadn't yet heard from Sheila Gilbert, my editor. This morning I talked to Sheila, who has always been able to make me look at a book with new eyes and make it better. She did the same again in this conversation. Her thoughts, and the thoughts I'd had in the meantime along with David's comments all coalesced together very nicely, and now I'm all excited to go in and revamp the novel along these lovely new lines.

But I have five short stories and essays to critique this afternoon for tomorrow's classes, and the galleys for IMMORTAL MUSE just landed on the porch, and I have band practice tonight. So I can't do anything yet with CROW no matter how eager I am to dive back into it, and it's *killing* me...

AARGH!

if you give up sleep, you can work it in nicely.

I hear you. I have just been given a contract on my first book and had a long conversation with MY editor today. I have to finish a grant app and then write a talk before I can really get at it. Meanwhile, Pope Francis is interesting and I could easily write 6 articles on him, and I'm still trying to land an essay about the death of Ethan Saylor (a man with Down syndrome) ..

I hear you.

Sure. Easy for you to say when it's partially your fault for giving me so many ideas! :-)

But yeah. That.

It was far more than just "useful" -- and I hope you know that. You sparked several thoughts for me to look at in the revision which will change it for the better, and you were spot-on with the issues you pointed out. You've missed a calling as a fiction editor!

"I'm laughin, is funny." as my child would say when I've told her it's not funny. You have such problems, especially the interference of band practice. Okay honestly the essays and short stories don't sound like much fun but I think you will muddle through somehow.

Frustrating, I'm sure. But just think of the reward when you finally get to CROW!

Always tough when you can't spend enough quality time with your children :->
