Today's OFPOD is two pictures, which show what Midwestcons of yore looked like, 1982 specifically. The first of two shots shows the MWC registration table: with Ric Bergman (and I think that's Ruth Berman next to him), Carol Resnick facing the camera, and Mike Resnick across the table from her with his back to us. Not sure who the others might be -- if you know, chime in!

The second of the poolside MWC '82 photos is a cluster of fans (there should be an interesting term for a collection of sf fans -- anyone want to make one up?). I'm not sure I can identify them all, but that's Denise with her back to us in the blue bathing suit. Going around the circle to the left, then, is Vicki, Karol Brown, Guy Allen, possibly Mike Harper obscured by Vicki (?), Bill Marks, a totally hidden person, and finally Frank Johnson.

Damn, we were young!

I always thought the collective noun for "SF fan" was "fen."

(Thanks for all the photos! I've been lurking all this time and enjoying them. I'm afraid I only know a few of these folks, as I wasn't ever aware of the existence of fandom until '89).

Tesla -- you're absolutely right; "fen" is the usual plural of "fan." I was thinking more along the lines of "a murder of crows" or a "pod of dolphins," however.
