The CNN article really doesn't mention that the parking lot was well-known as being the spot where the church where Richard III was reputedly buried had been, but that's not unexpected for CNN, I suppose. The BBC article I read did give that info; that the archeologists were simply confirming that the body buried there actually _was_ Richard III.

Still interesting, though!

Actually, they only found the parking lot a few months ago. This was the confirmation. However, given the house with the pillar in the garden, some people may actually have known - but the general scholarly community didn't.
