It's the time of year when writers mention that they have work that's eligible for the Hugo Award -- so I'll do the same. My novelette "Hope We Die Before We Get Old" which appeared in the George RR Martin-edited FORT FREAK, the latest book in the Wild Cards universe, is among the crowd. It features Oddity, a long-running character (well, actually three characters fused into one) in that universe, and completes the arc for them. If you missed the story in the anthology, here's a chance to download it and read it. CLICK HERE.

Read it and nominate it if you like it well enough (by March 11…)-- though you really should read it in context: by getting FORT FREAK itself. I think there are several stories there that are worth considering for the Hugo (Cherie Priest's novella-length interstitial material, for one…) -- the book's a heck of a read.

And while we're talking Hugo nominations, let me also mention that Sheila Gilbert and Betsy Wolheim of DAW are two fine and excellent editors who really, really should have been on the finalist list for Best Editor (Long Form) years ago. I'm going to nominate them; so should you! Let's rectify the oversight!

And for Best Editor, Short Form, I have no hesitation in putting forward George RR Martin for his work with the Wild Cards series...
