Denise and I went to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie last night: it's enjoyable enough as long as you can disconnect your expectations from the original Holmes stories. This is not the Holmes of the Arthur Conan Doyle tales, but an action-adventure cartoon of him, though Downing and Law make a nice wisecracking "buddy" team. Lots of "pretty" scenes of violence, lots of nice atmosphere of the times.
And this story is set in 1891 -- the same year as the current scene I'm writing in my WIP (though in a different location). I thought that a nice bit of serendipity.
