Today's Exxercise in Irony

CNN reported yesterday that two Muslim imams heading for "Islamaphobia" -- a conference on prejudice against Muslims -- were booked on a Atlantic Southeast Airlines flight (a Delta Connection flight) and had boarded the plane after the normal security check. The plane was taxiing for the runway, but returned to the terminal, where the two imams were told they had to leave the plane for "extra screening." After they were off the plane, the pilot took off without them. The article seems to indicate that most of this was at the pilot's instigation.

The imams were in Muslim dress. That seems to be their main offense. It appears we can add "Flying while Muslim" to "Driving while Black" as something that translates as suspicious activity.

That's appalling. I hope the airline takes steps to prevent this kind of thing happening again.

If they dress like that, obviously, they're guilty! Otherwise, they wouldn't dress like that.
