As promised, I've put together two short story collections in ebook form, and as of today, they're available (at least on Amazon and B&N). The two collections encompass the bulk of my non-Wild Cards short fiction, and both give you a novel's worth assortment of short stories -- a heck of a lot cheaper than buying them singly for $.99! Each the stories has introductory material, too, giving you a glimpse of the genesis of each piece.

A TAPESTRY OF TWELVE TALES is exactly that -- a dozen stories, most of which are relatively recent (one as late as 2009), including "You, by Anonymous" which was picked up for Rich Horton's "Best Science Fiction of the Year" anthology. Stories in this collection are: "Tapestry," "Green Stone," "Among the Pack, Alone," "Evening Shadow," "Flamestone," "Chaos Theory," "Staying Still," "They Also Serve," "Transformation," "Sweeter Far Than Flowing Honey," "The Gods of Every Other Wednesday Night," and "You, by Anonymous."

A RAIN OF PEBBLES is a compilation of all my "Alliance Universe" stories. Most of my early fiction was set in the same universe as my first three novels, SLOW FALL TO DAWN, DANCE OF THE HAG, and A QUIET OF STONE. For the first time, this pulls together all the Alliance Universe short fiction, including the title story, which won Analog Magazine's reader poll for Best Short Story (tying with a Joe Haldeman story). The stories in this collection are: "Answer In Cold Stone," "Encounter," "A Rain of Pebbles," "The Mask of Night On His Face," "Chaos Night," "In Darkness Waiting," "When We Come Down," and "Shaping Memory."

So -- if you want to see what my recent short fiction is like, go for TAPESTRY. If you want to see what I wrote like at the beginning of my career, go for RAIN. (For my Creative Writing students: same thing -- if you want to see the type of work I'm doing now as well as a smattering of older stuff, it's TAPESTRY; if you want to see what I was writing when I was about your age, try RAIN, as "Answer In Cold Stone" was drafted in my senior year of college and sold in the summer after I graduated.)

And hey, don't forget that THE WOODS, a contemporary fantasy novel, is also available in ebook form! Here's where you can get 'em...
