My usual Mother's Day present to Denise is to buy flowers for all the outdoor pots and plant them (then keep them watered through the summer). A few years back, I planted some Irish Moss (Sagina subulata) in one of the pots -- I bought it, frankly, mostly for the name, being somewhat of an Eire-phile . It survived that winter and came back the next year, spreading over most of the small pot it was in. It also survived last winter, and again came back nicely in the spring. I've let it have the whole pot this year.

Yesterday, coming back from some errand, I happened to look down at the pot, which is sitting on one of the steps to the house. There, in nearly the exact middle of the pot, a single four-leaf clover was growing.

I'm going to go search the yard for leprechauns now, and if there's a rainbow after the showers today, I'm heading for the end, I am...
