Denise and I spent the weekend in Mpls. -- which is always a treat. I like the fan community there, the music community there, and I like the city. We were up for a music party at
minnehaha B&K's. There was a lovely dinner at Harriet Manor on Friday evening, with
mizzlaurajean and
davidschroth,
lollardfish,
buttonlass and
buttonfish (though the latter little one was sleeping),
minnehaha K, and Floyd (who may not be on LJ). Dinner was leisurely and delicious, the conversation was delightful, and a Wizard game broke out afterward, which I somehow (and rather suspiciously) won.
Saturday was the music party, so there was a trip out to various stores to pick up supplies and some minor prep, some pie-making (OMG, did they look delicious...), and finally people started arriving. There were way too many people in attendance to name them all, though I had a long conversation with
pegkerr.
I need to give a special shout to
chasophonic for the loan of a guitar for the music circle. The circle was fun: it's always a treat to play with the Mpls. crew, and though we were missing a person or two I would have loved to hear again, it was fun. Once again, I swear that I'm stealing Ann (who is, sometimes, part of
jdtacv) for my band if I ever get the chance (though I'm certain John and her children would object). She's picking up viola in addition to the violin, and the low, rich tones were incredible. It was also lovely to hear
pieeyed for the second time -- she has a hell of a voice.
markiv1111 and Louie were there for a while -- Nate's music is always entertaining, and no one has a better ear. David was playing keys and doing lead turns.
chirosinger and
musicmutt were in the circle far too briefly (damn those day jobs!). Floyd popped in late for a bit.
jbru and
minnehaha B provided percussion (and there was another person whose name unfortunately I don't know who also played some percussion, and did so very well....).
chasophonic's voice is always a delight -- I can literally listen to him all night.
lollardfish was to my right, and damn it, I had to follow him, which is a daunting task -- he has one hell of strong voice and an incredible set of songs. Good circle! We lasted until about 3:00 AM, when it was down to Chas and me and my fingers (and voice) were both rather sore.
And Sunday, after pie (who woulda thunk there was a hidden pie in the house?), Dim Sum, and a fascinating examination of vials of sand, we headed home.
Thanks,
minnehaha B&K, for making it possible for us to be there -- it was much appreciated!

Wish we could move Cincinnati further north and Mpls further south (or would that be Chicago, then?)
