Following on the heels of the last month's free e-book offer for my own DARK WATER'S EMBRACE, Arc Manor and Phoenix Pick will be offering Carolyn Gilman's novella, "Arkfall" (which was up for a Nebula this year) as their free e-book of the month.
Carolyn is an excellent and evocative writer -- her first novel HALFWAY HUMAN came out the same year as DARK WATER'S EMBRACE. I read it then, and was so impressed I nominated it for the Nebula, something I do very rarely. A damned good book... and the good news is that Phoenix Pick has reissued HALFWAY HUMAN, so if you haven't read it -- or if, like me, you wanted a nice new trade paperback or an e-book to replace the old mass market pb -- then while you're at the site, pick up the novel as well.
