A Senate "no-confidence" vote on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales would be "meaningless" according to President Bush, but the administration and top Republican officials are working extremely hard to have Republican senators close ranks and vote against the resolution.

What a strange definition of "meaningless." To quote The Princess Bride: "I do not think that word means what you think it means."

EDITED TO ADD: I just checked CNN -- the Senate Republicans successfully blocked the resolution, with only 53 votes to end the filibuster against it (60 were needed)...
