Wow! What a fantastic time!

The weekend was wonderful and glorious and those of you who weren't there should be regretting that you missed this (and plotting how to get there next time). My, the tales that will be going around about the fabulous music and the amazing panels demonstrating boiling water with ice cubes and hot freezing, and the fabulariffic trophies for the Wizard Tournament, and the food and the conviality, and the sheer splendiferousness of the event.

Boy, did you miss a good one!

Many, many thanks and much appreciation to the hard work and the drive of [livejournal.com profile] mizzlaurajean, who is the eighth wonder of the fannish world, and her co-chair [livejournal.com profile] lsanderson and the assistance of [livejournal.com profile] davidschroth, and [livejournal.com profile] chasophonic's deft chairmanship of the music programming, and [livejournal.com profile] haniaw's layout of the Program Book, and [livejournal.com profile] bonz_lizard's artwork, and [livejournal.com profile] minnehaha B's wonderful bio, and [livejournal.com profile] minnehaha K's directing of the tournament. [livejournal.com profile] gerisullivan needs to be thanked for packing her boots, and for the treasured concert DVDs. [livejournal.com profile] drewan was doing a lot of videography of the convention. And the musicians who made the circle wonderful: Chas and [livejournal.com profile] chirosinger and [livejournal.com profile] lollardfish and [livejournal.com profile] fredcritter and Ann-whom-everyone-wants-to-steal and [livejournal.com profile] markiv1111 and Louie and [livejournal.com profile] musicmutt and Teresa and Floyd and Jeff and I know I'm forgetting a person or two or three...

Actually, I'd love to list everyone who was there and who I talked with and who contributed to the things just by their sparkling presence, but hey, let's just leave it at "THANKS, ALL!"

And the REALLY good news is that Laura Jean intends to do it again. If you go HERE before April 19, you can pre-register for the 2009 version of Applecon CHEAP...

There were lots of pictures taken (some of them stunning), but I haven't yet figured out where they all are, but I saw a few from [livejournal.com profile] barondave's journal... I know there are others out there and will link to 'em once I find 'em.

Thanks again to everyone who helped make Applecon what it was!

EDITED TO ADD: Here's a link to a set of Applecon pictures; http://www.geofstone.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=30 I don't know Geof -- met him for the first time there -- but OMG! the man does incredible photography...

EDITED (AGAIN) TO ADD: More photos of Applecon from [livejournal.com profile] dd_b: http://dd-b.net/dd-b/SnapshotAlbum/data/2008/04110-applecon/

those of you who weren't there should be ashamed that you missed this.

Ashamed? Regretful, I can see. Maybe even sad. But ashamed?

OK, so maybe I shouldn't write before caffeine! :-) You're right -- wrong word. So I changed it.

I always listen to good editors... :-)

There's a nifty piece in the back of last week's Time magazine about writers and editors, offhand. In other weird news, I found first printings of Wild Cards 3, 4, & 5 at Goodwill this weekend, placed there, I'm sure, to remind me that I wasn't at Applecon. Having read them all I declined to pick them up, but I did put them in order on the shelf for some lucky soul to snag up.

You were missed! The circle was diminished by your absence (and you know those diminished chords are a bitch!)

Re: LOL! Wonder's of the fannish world.....

Probably, though I don't know what they are! And what are you doing up? I thought you'd be crashing all day today after this weekend... :-)

I slept 8 hours like stony rock then woke up wanting coffee and internets. I may need a nap later but I have all day to do as I wish.

My favorite pic of the lot (http://www.geofstone.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=30&pos=38).

If there had been flies in the room, I'd've caught them all...

Sometimes, taking a good photograph is dependent on having a good subject. This is not one of those cases. :-)
