I passed the 125,000 mark a few days ago on A MAGIC OF NIGHTFALL -- which was my original guesstimate of the length of the first draft.
But I'm not done. I figure there's still 15,000 words (give or take a few thousand) to go. However, that does mean that I'm about 90% done with the first draft, and I can see the glimmerings of the endgame for the novel.
Then I gotta go back to the beginning and address all the notes for revision that I've been making in the project file. That will almost certainly add words rather than subtract them; at least, that's the usual pattern. So while I thought this was going to be little shorter than A MAGIC OF TWILIGHT, I suspect it's going to end up around the same wordcount. Maybe. Depends on how much cutting accompanies the additions...
But -- I'm not thinking about that right now. Honest. I still have to hit those two magic words before I can go back and do all the things I'm aching to do to the manuscript.
