Applecon

I've been asked to be Music GoH at Applecon, a new Minneapolis con co-chaired by the fabulous mizzlaurajean and the scintillating lsanderson. Since I love playing music with the Mpls folk, among whom there are several much better musicians and entertainers than me, I've happily accepted. Wow, a whole weekend listening to and playing with a great crew of people... I can't wait!

But I have to wait a bit: Applecon will be April 11 - 13, 2008. Their website is now up and running, and you can get information, become a member, and get the lowdown on the hotel there.

Oh, I should mention the other guests of honor: the Writer GoH is S.L. Farrell, the Artist GoH is SLeigh, and the Fan GoH is someone named Steve. I, of course, don't know any of those people, but I'm looking forward to meeting them. This should be a fun weekend -- and I'd love to have you there to share it!

April in Mpls--it doesn't get any better that that, so make your plans now!

I had not been planning on this one, 95% because it's difficult for me to get time away from my band. (And note that I've already asked for two weekends off in 2008, so that I [for one con] and Louie and I together [for the other con] can be guest/guests of honor at Minicon and Contata.) Nonetheless, given that I feel cordial toward both the people putting on the con, and now toward you as the Guest of Honor, I think it would make sense for Louie and me to do some serious discussing of this, at least during daytimes. Will there be music Sunday night? Will you be hanging around that long? I really do want to know.

Hey, I perfectly understand the need to not cancel too many weekend nights due to paying gigs, and if that's what you gotta do, that's what you gotta do! If nothing else, I hope you're able to stop by during the day. Actually, one day I'd love to be in a position one day to hear your band play.

Unfortunately, I have to be back in Cincinnati to teach on Monday, so Denise and I are leaving late Sunday afternoon and won't be around for any Sunday night music-making... though I'm relatively sure there will be some.
