... and so I got up really early this morning, worked with Freeway Pro until just a few minutes ago, and uploaded a whole new site. It's not exactly the way I want it yet, but it seems to work. If anyone comes across dead links, strange placements, legibility issues, or places where it seems there should be a link and isn't one, please let me know!

I must say that in playing with the site in both Safari and Firefox that it loads much faster than the iWeb version -- I suspect that Freeway's coding is responsible.

Now I'm very tired of cutting and pasting and dragging and dropping and writing and going back and forth between a dozen different windows. Time to get ready to go play tonight's gig...

Done. For today.

And I'm confident that when I next return to Freeway, the site will be there just as it was. But I'm going to back up, just in case...

Pretty nice. There are some black bars on some of the pages. Seems to be where the background punches through.

Yeah, I noticed that. It appears to be two things: on the Home page, there's a block of white with text sitting halfway over the graphic. If someone's browser has the default font size set larger than I had it, then the text breaks into two lines and causes weird stuff to happen. I can fix that by making the text either a set font and size, or a jpg rather than the HTML it currently is.

In the other couple of places I saw it, it seems to be because the text is in a gray box, but the background of the text is set to black, not the same gray... That's an easy enough fix, and I'll get to it eventually.

Not today, though. :-)

Thanks for the feedback, Steve!

You might want to consider changing the page title on the main page to something other than "index" as well, when next you edit.

Hmm... I've always named the entry page "index" -- I thought that was necessary.

From: [identity profile] mrbankies.livejournal.com

The file itself needs to be index.htm. What I was referring to was the <TITLE> element. Not sure how you'd set it in the app your using, but it controls what shows up in the title bar of the browser window. Right now it shows "index".

Ah, now I understand what you mean. Actually, that's an artifact from the iWeb version -- iWeb doesn't seem to be able to title the page one thing and call the file name for it another. In other words, the "index.html" page has to be titled "index".

In Freeway, yes, I can call a file "index.html" and have it give a different title to the browser. I'd forgotten that. I fixed it and that page should now say "Home." Thanks for the catch!

Byoo-tee-full!

Only problem I came across was that not all the links to your writing articles worked--I got quite a few "age cannot be found" messages.

From: [identity profile] sleigh.livejournal.com

Huh -- I think I may have accidentally deleted some of those pages when I went through the server's folder tossing out all the iWeb files. All better now -- thanks for the alert!

And gee, I wish "age cannot be found" was a human characteristic! :-)

LOL! "age cannot be found"--definitely one of my better typos!
