I don’t know how any of you feel, but the events of the last several days have left me feeling increasingly morose and pessimistic about we humans in general. The blatant racism, the lack of empathy, the seething and understandable rage that has been revealed just below the veneer of polite society has been exacerbated by the pandemic-caused isolation, the economic slide, and been inflamed by a certain president.

I could go on, but I won’t. It doesn’t even particularly matter where on the political spectrum you fall, if we can’t talk with each other and make an effort to understand people who harbor different opinions and respect their feelings even when we don’t agree… well, this will all just go on and on and on.

So today’s Pandemic World Basement Tape song is one from the late 60s that seems to me to sum up the way I feel. It’s by the Buffalo Springfield and was written by Stephen Stills: “For What It’s Worth.”

You know the drill by now, so I won’t mention all the fine print stuff today. Give a listen, then go out and be kind to all the people you meet, and stay safe!

EDITED TO ADD: Not sure where I was told that Tom Petty wrote this song, but Chris Krohn corrected me -- it was written by Stephen Stills. Thanks, Chris!
