Denise, Andy, and I went to see "Aquaman" this evening, which reinforced my feelings about 'empty' superhero movies. It's about 2% actual story and human interaction, 10% blatant and obvious straight theft from other mythic tales, 38% narrative infodumps of backstory, and 50 % CGI scenery, battles, creatures, and explosions. From a substance standpoint, this is pure cotton candy and empty calories.
If you like that, you'll like the movie. Me, I really REALLY want far more meat on the bones of the script.
