Ted

I received incredibly sad news today that Ted Donohoue has passed away. Ted and I went to high school together, and he and I would play together in Bluestone Ivory from 1969 until Ted left the group not long before its demise in 1977. Ted was the guitarist, I was the bassist, and Ted and I shared the lead vocal duties. As with nearly every band, there were the occasional tensions between Ted and me, as there times when both of us wanted to take the vocal on a particular song, but usually we knew which one of would be best for a tune. Ted was an exceptionally fine rock guitarist, could copy flawlessly nearly any lick he heard, and he was certainly one of the reasons that BSI gained its local popularity during those years.

Ted and I would fall out of touch after he left BSI for a more lucrative position in a show band and was traveling a lot. He eventually returned to Cincinnati, and we would come into occasional contact, though never on any regular basis. Still, it's a shock to know that someone with whom I shared so much time and passion for music is gone now.

I regret that I never made the time to sit down with Ted and jam together in recent years. I would have liked that... Ted, you'll be missed -- by me, as well as by those people who knew you far better in recent years.
