MBP: And back to the titmouse. You can see in this one that the titmouse and the chickadee use the same procedures to open up stubborn seeds: they either hammer the seed with their bill while holding it between their feet, or they hold the seed in the bill and hammer the seed against a hard surface like a branch. Our titmouse is using the first method, You can see that while the feet and beak are in sharp focus, the titmouse is moving the rest of its body as it tries to pry open the seed.
