In the mornings especially, I'll look out and see a cloud of birds around the feeder -- mostly house sparrows and house finches with mourning doves on the ground, but the occasional cardinal, nuthatch, titmouse, or chickadee. There used to be lots of black birds around too -- grackles, starlings, cowbirds, and crows -- but of late, they've been absent, presumably feeding elsewhere. And there are the rare visitors too: woodpeckers, grosbeaks, etc.

So here's what a typical morning looks like. See how many birds you count...

I can see 12, but judging by the swinging motion of the smaller tube in the foreground right, I suspet no. 13 is hiding on its backside.

Same, but I make it 14 for the red one on top of the pole.
