Canadian geese are a protected species in Canada, which may be why, when they migrate down here, there are so many of them congregating that they're pests: foul-tempered, unafraid, and leaving a million droppings everywhere they gather.

Here's a flock crossing the street in St. Catherine's -- slowly, very slowly -- as well as a close-up. I think Ebenezer Scrooge, at the end of his story, had the right idea...

Sadly, over here, they're a problem. They're an invader species and they do damage to the local environment.

I was told that either North or South Dakota set the DAILY bag limit at 50!! for the upcoming season.
