I acquired a new laptop yesterday -- a 13" Macbook Pro with Retina Display and 512GB flash storage rather than a hard drive -- to replace my elderly 2008 Macbook. The Macbook was still running OK for the most part, but was becoming prone to occasional hesitations and pauses, and the 250GB hard drive was no longer adequate.

Everything appears to have migrated successfully from the old laptop. (The first thing I checked: Scrivener.) Flash storage is quite sprightly compared to hard drive storage, and the laptop is both thinner and lighter than its predecessor, which is also nice (3.6 lbs. as opposed to 4.5). We'll see, however, whether I end up missing the CD/DVD drive that the previous model sported enough that I end up getting the USB Superdrive...
