I have it!

A few days ago, I asked for suggestions for a collective noun for a group of sf fans. Since, in fandom, the approved plural for "fan" is "fen," and since a fen is also a name for a marsh or swamp, and since fen (as in sf fans) can sometimes get into squabbles, I propose that the collective noun be "morass", as in "A Morass of Fen."

Ah, sorry that the original post slipped by. Iirc, we (that is, the Albany State Science Fiction Society, ASSFS, circa 1977) wrestled with this same problem. I don't recall exactly what we decided, that cold and lonely day, but I'm pretty sure we discussed "Slipsheet" and "Collation". While I'm fond of "slipsheet", as fandom used the term far more frequently than any other place I've encountered (and "deslipsheeting" as well), the mimeo background might not work today.

Of course, the same could be said of "A collation of fen".

I suppose "A network of fans" makes too much literal sense...
