About a year ago, as an experiment, I e-published THE WOODS, a dark fantasy set (mostly) in 1970. The experiment was interesting, but told me that I really don't want to be publisher, marketer, art director, book production editor, distribution, and customer service along with also being the writer…

Phoenix Pick, a division of Arc Manor Books, has produced several of my backlist novels, and I've been very happy with their production values, the quality of their books, and the marketing work they've done for the line. So I contacted Shahid, the publisher, and asked if he'd be interested in handling THE WOODS as well -- especially since I wanted to see a print version as well as the e-book version.

He was. So over the last few months, I've taken down all the e-book versions of THE WOODS I had out there. Arc Manor's fabulous copy-editor went over the book (finding far too many errors for my comfort, honestly -- add "copy-editor" to the publishing titles that I'm not all that good at performing), and they put together a new cover and re-designed the interior.

THE WOODS is now live on amazon and B&N. So if you never purchased it before.or if you want a 'corrected' version, or if you want it in print instead of an e-book, now's your chance!

Here's what David Coe had to say about THE WOODS: ""I was blown away by The Woods. It is billed as a dark fantasy, and it is that. The magic in this story is both beautiful and disturbing. The narrative is gripping; deceptively simple in its setup and satisfyingly complex in its execution. And yet, while "Dark Fantasy," may begin to describe The Woods, it does not do the book justice. This is a deeply moving, literary novel, a reflection on adolescence that delves into the raw emotions of youth with the poetic insight of John Knowles (A Separate Peace) and the power of the underrated James Kirkwood (Good Times, Bad Times).... Humor, melancholy, nostalgia, and beneath it all a compelling honesty that makes this work of fiction read almost like memoir. Leigh's prose is elegant, his plotting tight, his character work outstanding. But it is the voice of his protagonist that drives this story, that gives the book it's emotional weight and power…."
