So we're into July (how can it be July already?) and so it's time for a progress report on THE WOODS and the other ebooks...

Here's what June sales looked like -- and it's not a pretty sight:
THE WOODS - novel: 8 (7 through amazon, 1 through B&N)
A RAIN OF PEBBLES - short story collection: 0
A TAPESTRY OF TWELVE TALES - short story collection: 2 (all through amazon)
"The Gods of Every Other Wednesday" Night - sample novelette: 2 (all through amazon)
"When We Come Down" - sample novelette: 0

Total: 11 sales through amazon, 1 through B&N, 0 through Apple. I've yet to receive sales reports from Kobobooks or EPW!, my other two outlets, so the figures might go up slightly.

I'm considering lowering the price on THE WOODS and the two collections to $2.99 from their current $3.99, to see what that does to sales. Any thoughts on that?

On the up side, THE WOODS received a lovely review last month from David B. Coe -- which you can see here.

Also, I can see that with enough of a backlist, each selling a few copies a month, one could get a steady three-figure 'salary' of some sort coming in every month, with the backlist novels helping each other and providing a place for a reader who liked one to try another of your books. That's what I'm currently missing, but this will slowly change over the rest of the year. DARK WATER'S EMBRACE, SPEAKING STONES, and THE SHAPE OF SILENCE are also "Stephen Leigh" titles available as ebooks, but they're out through Phoenix Pick (and also available as trade paperbacks), and thus I don't see their sales on a monthly basis, but at six month intervals. All six "S.L. Farrell" books are available as ebooks, also, but given the pseudonym, I'm not certain that the casual reader connects them to "Stephen Leigh."

Along with that, several of my older novels will be added to the ebook list in coming months, probably in this order: THE ABRAXAS MARVEL CIRCUS, SLOW FALL TO DAWN, DANCE OF THE HAG, A QUIET OF STONE, THE BONES OF GOD, CRYSTAL MEMORY, ALIEN TONGUE. The order depends on how quick the reversions come through (and if they come through, in two cases), how quickly I can proof the manuscripts, several of which will have to be scanned from the books, and how quickly I can put together decent-looking covers for them.

But... that would be eight novels in ebook form and two short story collections out, with the income coming directly to me, and three more "Stephen Leigh" titles offered via Phoenix Pick. That, I think (I hope), would be enough to start generating a low but relatively steady revenue stream. We'll see... and I'll let you know!
