Denise & I are really enjoying Windycon this year. It's unfortunate that the "Turnips vs. Beets" panel went so badly, and that an audience member was injured by an exploding carrot, but otherwise things have gone well. We spent most of our time last night at the Ace Doubles party in the penthouse, which was just packed. We finally left and went down to lobby, and I spent the rest of the night playing along with the other sitar and tabla players in the music circles. Not sure my surbahar solo went over, but hey...

you just can't trust those root vegetables...

See, that's why we missed each other. We were floating between Da Fred Haskell Song and Slide Show and the Tri-Wizard Redux Tourney.

Tonight, we're thinking about the Masquerade, or else Glicksohn's version of Hakosot.

I'm still in New York. My plane doesn't leave for another hour and a half.

I had no idea you were at Windycon! Would have tried to track you down...still remembering the good vibes from that jam a couple of years ago.

Umm... I wasn't. I was trying (and evidently failing) to make a joke... :-)

I just got back from said con, am strangely more brain-dead that if we had had a concert, and I'm trying to backtrack on entries. So my bad, no turnip for gundo... *goes off to slink in corner*

I'm always a little leery of a panel name or description which includes root vegetables, unless it's in a cooking track. It could have been worse, though -- it could have been something like "Turnips, Rutabaga, or Neither. And what about carrots?", which could have very easily devolved into a religious discussion.

I hope it was not a serious injury.

I think Glicksohn's version of Hakosot is a stupendous idea, actually.

We wish we'd been there, but we're glad we were missed!
