WIth thanks to [livejournal.com profile] msnodgrass, here's a link to a NY Times article by Nicholas D. Kristoff, which highlights a certain Wendell Potter, who worked as head of corporate communications for Cigna and Humana for years. His job then was to craft the message about the evils of "socialized medicine," but his conscience finally got the better of him.

Hint: for the health care giants, it's all about profits, and all about getting rid of those who get really sick and start eating into those profits.

EDITED TO ADD: [livejournal.com profile] minnehaha B has pointed out this interview with Mr. Potter: far more in depth, and extremely interesting!
