For those in town, I'm playing twice this weekend. Here's the information (from the e-mail I sent out to our list):

STIMULATE YOUR ECONOMY! It's your duty as patriotic citizens, after all!

We have not one but TWO opportunities for you to do your civic duty this weekend.

On Friday, TOAST! will be playing at the Silverton Cafe (7203 Montgomery Road) from about 8:30-12:30. This is our GRAND RETURN ENGAGEMENT! They booked us for a few more dates there after our initial gig a few weeks ago. (They liked us! They really liked us!) This despite the fact that Sleigh couldn't remember half the chords or any of the backing parts to "Crazy Little Thing", or that TV played "Italian Restaurant" as if he were in a hurry to leave, or that Tom allowed his brother to demonstrate what real singing sounds like, or that SG mistook a dill pickle for his Ewi, or that Dale's ponytail became hopelessly entangled in his guitar strings, or that Rick rearranged the sets so that we're playing nothing but Klezmer tunes in the first set.

Obviously, the Silverton Cafe has incredibly low standards for their entertainment -- but hey, we're happy that we're able to leap over that threshold! So here's your chance to make the owners really happy once again so that they don't regret hiring us, AND you get to help our ailing economy at the same time by buying drinks and good food at the same time (SG heartily recommends the #28 sandwich). We're also guaranteeing that there won't be a half foot of snow and ice this Friday night to encumber parking and walking! How can you pass by this incredible opportunity? You, yes you, must be there on Friday! It's your duty as an American!

Then, the very next night, you can perform stimulation once again by going out on Saturday to the Riverbank Cafe in Hamilton (102 Main Street in beautiful downtown Hamilton -- go to their website http://www.riverbankcafe.com/oldindex.html for more information) to listen to the incredibly small Davis-Leigh Duo play from 7:00 - 10:00. (Hey, you'll even have time to catch a movie after the gig -- how cool is that, huh?) The Davis-Leigh Duo is Mark Davis (from 99iQ) and Steve Leigh (from Toast and 99iQ) serving up a (relatively quiet) mix of old, new, unusual, and occasionally original tunes. The Riverbank has a great menu, and is a wonderful place to eat and listen to the duo at the same time. You really should be there. You really should!

The Duo will not be playing "Crazy Little Thing." But you never know about the klezmer music.

How can you not use your weekend wisely and support your local musicians? Hey, look at it this way: we're not asking you for billions of dollars. This is one heck of a lot cheaper than the bill Congress passed (after all, we're only musicians and we'll actually play for wilted lettuce and broken pencils without erasers). So mark this weekend on your calendar and prepare yourself for food, music, entertainment, and STIMULATION (well, of the economic variety, anyway).

You can even bring your wilted lettuce and broken pencils!
