ACE IN THE HOLE

 Yesterday was the release day for Tor's trade paperback re-release of ACE IN THE HOLE, the 6th Wild Cards novel. The novel, which takes places at the 1988 Democratic National Convention, is still one of my favorite books of the entire series and -- I think -- one of our best. Written by Walton "Bud" Simons, Vic Milán, Melinda Snodgrass, Walter Jon Williams, and myself, this 'mosaic novel' was tight, tense, and taut. I had great fun working closely with Melinda on the scenes between Dr. Tachyon and Gregg Hartmann, aka "Puppetman". And this book contains the scene that I wouldn't let Denise read until after she'd delivered Devon, with whom she was pregnant at the time.

You really should pick it up! Fantastic new cover too, by the incredible Michael Komarck. There's an audio book as well, with Clancy Brown voicing Hartmann.
