We'll end our foreign bird pics (for now, anyway) with this one -- one of the ravens in the Tower of London. The legend is that as long as the ravens stay in the Tower, the kingdom cannot fall... so as a precaution, the ravens that are kept on the Tower grounds all have their wings clipped, as you can easily see in this picture. They can fly a bit, but not far and not high.
And since I'll be sending the manuscript of CROW OF CONNEMARA off in just a little bit, a raven picture seems especially appropriate...
