It pleases me no end to see that every fiction category in the Nebula Awards field this year was won by a female writer. (For those who don't know: the Nebulas are voted on and given out by the members of the professional organization for sf/fantasy writers, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.) Maybe, just maybe, we're finally reaching the point where the quality of the work matters more than the gender, sexual identity, or racial/ethnic background of the writer.
