I'm proofing THE BONES OF GOD, my Messianic novel, and came across this exchange between Huan Su, one of the Ascendants (the equivalent of a cardinal in the Catholic faith; in this future, most humans belong to a religion that is a synthesis of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism) and Colin Fairwood, who is the Sartius Exori, the human messiah of an alien god.

Reading it, I couldn't help but think of some of the current political candidates…

"I’m not here to argue theology, not at all. We’re forever separated on that issue, Colin. What I wish to do is speak of politics. The world of the body.”

“You can’t make that distinction,” Colin argued. He waved a hand at the canopy above them, at the houses of the town. “When you live your life by your faith, your beliefs are your politics."

Do you think that's true? If so, does that scare you as much as it scares me?
