After fooling far too much with ebooks over the last month and getting very little 'new' stuff written, I've finally started putting down new words again on CROW OF CONNEMARA, the second of the two books I have under contract with DAW. I've been working on CROW as I wait for Sheila's editorial notes on the submission draft of DAEMON HEART, the first of the books. I hope to hear from her soon (she said to nag her, and I have been) -- and as soon as I do, I'll let go of this first draft of CROW and dive back into DAEMON HEART with Sheila's notes and those from my first readers.

I'm really looking forward to returning to DAEMON HEART. I'm very pleased with the book overall, and I have some revisions I've been dying to start on but have held off from since I wanted to have Sheila's input first. My hope is that I'll have the final draft of the novel by the time the next semester starts, and then I'll come back again to CROW. Right now, CROW sits around 13,000 very drafty words; we'll see how far along we get before I hear from Sheila...

Not that I won't also still be futzing around with ebooks. I've sent out reversion letters on several backlist novels, which I do intend to add to the ebooks I already have out there: THE WOODS (which should have a new and hopefully final cover sometime in the very near future), A TAPESTRY OF TWELVE TALES, and A RAIN OF PEBBLES. Most of those books pre-date my writing on a computer, and so I'll have to scan them first -- any suggestions for a good Mac-based OCR software?

I'm also think of taking a few of stories from TAPESTRY and RAIN and putting them out separately for $.99, just to see if that generates any additional sales -- which continue to be, frankly, very mediocre...
