Despite the posturing of politicians afraid of not being re-elected, despite the growling of far-right bulldog Richard Cheney, despite the fear-mongering of the press and the paranoia of Joe Average, it's interesting to note that the latest terrorists were 1) homegrown, 2) caught not by 'enhanced interrogation', but by the standard intelligence and police work tactics, 3) had a plot that had nothing to do with airplanes or getting through airport security, and 4) were like many terrorists, not the brightest bulbs in the socket.

To me, it speaks well of Obama's defense yesterday of his attitudes toward security, terrorism and treatment of prisoners.

EDITED TO ADD: I wrote this, then went prowling through my usual morning websites, and found (not surprisingly) that Bruce Schneier had covered this topic rather more thoroughly. You should go read it, assuming you don't read Bruce's site regularly (and if you don't, why don't you?)
