A MAGIC OF DAWN is now at at 130,000 words in first draft, and I'm through all but the last section (of perhaps ten viewpoint scenes). I'm still thinking that the first draft will be somewhere in the vicinity of 150,000 words, with revision afterward adding to the wordcount rather than subtracting from it.
Luckily, Sheila seems to care more about whether the book works than with how long it is, unlike reports I've heard of other publishers... so word count shouldn't be a critical issue.
Onward: I need to get this done, so I can get it to Sheila and my waiting first readers...
