The MacBook arrived today. During the start-up, one of the options is to restore the computer from a Time Machine back-up, so I clicked that, and about an hour and a half later, the new MacBook looked exactly like the dead iMac, except that, thankfully, it wasn't dead.
My mail's there. My Quicken file's there. My writing files are there. My teaching files are there. All the apps are there. Everything's back. Everything's where it used to be. I don't appear to have lost any data. Yay!
After having essentially 'lost' three days of work, it feels good to have a functional computer again. I'm still futzing a bit with it to optimize the 'new' set-up, but things are looking good so far, three hours after having received the machine.
Whew!
