110,000 on the novel as of yesterday. (You can refrain from the "congratulations" comments; I'll assume ya'll gave 'em...) This may, though, have been the fastest 10,000 words I've ever written on a novel, since just ten days before, I hit 100,000. Yeah, yeah, I know -- "Why, I write 1,000 words an hour, and I finished my last novel in a month." I don't. I'm not a fast writer. I think the most I've managed in a day is 2,500 words of forward progress, and that exhausted me. Given that the semester started, that I had to write a couple thousand words on another project as well, and prepare lessons, and read stuff for school, and all the rest of Life... well, putting out a thousand decent words a day is just dandy.

Again, maybe it's the placebo effect still at work, or maybe it's Scrivener, which makes it easier for me to move around in the complicated morass that is a novel-in-progress. Either way, I'll take it. I'm awfully glad right now that I made the switch. We'll see if I can keep up this pace as we move deeper into the semester and I'm confronted with papers and student fiction...

For today, I'll just allow myself to feel good about the progress!
